Just got my haircut from Curtis. This wasn’t just someone going through the motions. You could tell he understands weight, proportion, and how to keep your style consistent while it grows. I wasn’t sure how to get it cut (was debating a skin taper or low taper), so I asked him… What stood out the most is how confidently he answered every question I had. Usually, whenever I ask for a barber’s advice, they give me a roundabout answer with long explanations about this and that, but with Curtis, when I asked whether I should do a skin taper or low taper while growing my sides out, he didn’t hesitate to give me an honest answer and even explained why, so we went with the low taper. During the cut, he also didn’t soak my hair in water like most do. He kept the style completely intact, which made the cut come out looking much sharper. Even though I only asked to get that taper done, he still went out of his way to thin out the ends on top with shears.... just enough to make it fall better and look more sculpted. Nobody else had done that either. Then, before I left, he also went out of his way to style it with a powder product. I liked it so much I ended up buying a bottle. I also asked him when I should come back to keep everything looking tight, which is another question most barbers aren’t really straight up about answering either. They usually say, “Well, it depends on how you feel about this or that, or what style you’re going for…” When I asked Curtis, he said to come back in 14 days, and after about 2–3 more haircuts, the top and sides will be grown back out to how I like them, then we’d keep going from there every few weeks. Wow!! It meant a lot getting real, solid advice like that. This is a guy who’s putting a lot of thought into each cut he’s doing, and I highly recommend him to anyone looking for a solid barber at Mo's!
